Skin irritation after shaving – how to deal with?

Shaving is part of our everyday life. We use a razor to remove unwanted hair on the face, under the armpits, on the legs. But in most cases it hurts and irritates the skin.

A study by the International Institute of Skin Problems shows that 79% of men say they have a problem with the facial skin but do not consider it as a result of shaving. But most often, it is the primary culprit for inborn hairs, stiffening, redness and itchy skin or inflammation.

Removing hair with a razor disturbs the lipid barrier on which the condition of the skin’s surface layer depends. If the razor is inappropriate, if its blades are old and blunted, if too many bacteria accumulate between them, the skin is subject to excessive exfoliation and easily irritates, causing it to form puffy pimples. Reducing the lipid layer allows different chemical elements to reach the deeper layers of the skin and it gets infected. On the other hand, dehydration occurs because the moisture necessary for the natural functioning of the skin tissues disappears faster than the cells. Image result for Skin irritation after shaving - how to deal with?Irritated skin after shaving is much more susceptible to external influences such as air pollution. It not only soothes the throat, but also the skin. Honey moisturizes, nourishes and acts anti-inflammatory. Once we irritate the irritated areas at least twice with honey, we will feel the difference in irritation, swelling and redness. Applied to the affected areas, the honey should stand for at least 10-15 minutes, then wash it with lukewarm water and dry the skin with a soft cloth.

Aloe vera

It is used to treat severe sunburns for centuries and can soothe and relieve irritation. If we have aloe vera at home, just cut off one sheet and separate the pulp. Apply directly to the affected skin and let it stand for about 20 minutes. We may even smear immediately before going to bed and remove the gel until morning.

Baby oil

Soothes reddened skin after shaving. Baby oil can be used as an aftershave. Apply immediately after shaving, with dry skin.

The water-filled vegetable moisturizes and simultaneously reduces irritation. Just cut thin slices of cucumber, chill them for 10 minutes in the refrigerator and put on irritated skin after shaving.
